Summer 2020 Updates

News about COVID-19 and Summer Funding:

OCS is unable to fund international travel this summer due to COVID-19. See the University guidance on undergraduate summer travel. Information regarding opportunities OCS is able to fund for summer 2020 is below.

Harvard Summer School Online Funding

OCS is pleased to be able to offer funding to study online at Harvard Summer School to students who received and accepted funding for either non-Harvard or Harvard Summer School Study Abroad programs. Eligible students have been notified that they can enroll in up to 2 online courses (totaling 8 credits).

Course Eligibility:

How to Register for Harvard Summer School Courses:

If you are interested in an open-enrollment course, you can register now through June 18. Consider registering early if you are interested in a limited-enrollment course. Please review the Academic Calendar and the Harvard College Student Guidelines on the Harvard Summer School website.

If you applied for Harvard Summer School study abroad programs this year:

  • Go to the Summer School Online Services login page.
  • Login as a “Returning Student” with your HarvardKey. Since you previously applied to a Summer School study abroad program, you already have an online services account.
  • Once you are on the student main menu, you may add classes by selecting “Course Registration and Schedule" then "Add Course."
  • Please contact summerabroad@summer.harvard.edu if you have questions/issues about registration.

If you did not apply for Harvard Summer School study abroad programs this year:

  • Go to the Summer School Online Services login page.
  • Login as a “Returning Student” or Select "Create Account" under "New Student" and log in with your HarvardKey.
    • If you are new, enter your new student information as directed and select "Submit" at the bottom of the new student information page.
  • Complete the Application Checklist items in Online Services in the order presented.
  • Once you are on the student main menu, you may add classes by selecting “Course Registration and Schedule" then "Add Course."
    • Note, if your native language is not English and you do not already have an account with the Summer School, you will need to contact proficiency@summer.harvard.edu before you can register to let Harvard Summer School know you are a Harvard College student seeking exemption to the Summer School's English proficiency requirement.
  • Please contact summerabroad@summer.harvard.edu if you have questions/issues about registration.

Harvard Summer School Payment Details:

Once you register, you will receive information from the Summer School Registrar’s Office and Student Financial Services. The full payment deadline is May 18, and your OCS funding will transfer automatically to the Summer School – and appear in your student account – by the middle of May.

Please note, if your funding does not cover your total balance, you are responsible for paying your balance in full by May 18, or you risk being dropped from all courses and waitlists. The last day to drop a course for a 100% tuition refund is June 24.

Change of Plans:

If you drop a course and do not end up enrolling in Harvard Summer School, inform us as soon as possibly by emailing OCS Summer Funding at ocs_summerfunding@fas.harvard.edu.
